House Republicans are advancing a proposal that prevents transgender youth from receiving certain kinds of health care. The bill prevents doctors from prescribing puberty blockers and hormone treatment.

All three House bills that cut certain taxes are now in play. Legislative leaders and the governor say they want to cut some form of taxes at the state level.
They all cut somewhere around $100 million dollars, but which tax cut remains to be seen.

The legislature is advancing a bill creating scholarships for the behavioral health field. The scholarships address a shortage of behavioral health workers in the state.

The South Dakota Supreme Court has upheld the rape conviction of a Watertown man who tried to use the defense of advance consent. Lee Malcolm said he and his girlfriend had an agreement that he could engage in “pass-out sex” with her. But the high court says consent has to orient to the time of intercourse, and a victim has the right to withdraw consent at any time.

South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks has announced $20,000 in funding for the 2023 Small Grants Program. Grants will be awarded for projects focused on education and outreach of wildlife.
