A legislative panel is greenlighting rules for a program to educate and license more appraisers. The legislative panel had rejected changes to the program twice before over concerns of diluting the Experience Training Program.

South Dakota’s restrictions on paid petition circulators have been shot down by the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. The state legislature passed Senate Bill 180 in 2021, requiring petition carriers to give personal information that would then be made public.

Two buildings at the University of South Dakota have recently begun demolition. Brookman and Julian halls have stood on the campus for decades, both previously housing students as dormitories.

The Sioux Falls Washington Pavilion will add a planetarium to the Wells Fargo CineDome thanks to an almost $2 million donation from the Dick and Kathy Sweetman family. The donation is the largest gift from an individual in the Washington Pavilion’s history.

Attendance at the South Dakota State Fair nearly reached pre-pandemic levels. The state Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources says more than 192,000 people attended this year’s fair.
