Anthrax has been confirmed in South Dakota livestock for the first time this year. The Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Laboratory at SDSU confirmed the disease from samples submitted over the weekend.

On Monday, September 26, 2022, at approximately 10:40 p.m., inmate Juan Ali Ramirez Ramirez was discovered missing from the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Yankton in Yankton, South Dakota. The United States Marshals Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other law enforcement agencies were notified. An internal investigation was initiated.

New incentives from the USDA aim to encourage farmers to use 'climate smart’ practices. However, those who already practice sustainable methods say they won't see those incentive dollars.

The South Dakota Board of Regents confirms enrollment is up for this school year. Across the system, there are more than 33,000 enrolled students in the six public universities.

A sure sign of fall is Spearfish Canyon transforming into color splendor. The canyon is between 70 and 80 percent of peak colors, which is where it’s expected to remain by the end of this week.
