The 8th circuit court of appeals is dismissing an appeal by Governor Kristi Noem for a fireworks permit at Mount Rushmore. The lawsuit is over the Department of Interior and National Park Service permit denials for Independence Day celebrations in 2021.

A legislative group is looking closely at whether to build a new male prison in Sioux Falls and female prison in Rapid City. The group is studying the infrastructure of the Corrections Department statewide and the services provided at those facilities.

More than 20 Republican attorneys general – including South Dakota -- have filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration over a Department of Agriculture school meal program that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

A proposed five-hundred-million-dollar soybean processing plant has received a key permit.

South Dakota’s own Riley Reiff is signing with the NFL’s Chicago Bears. ESPN reports Reiff has agreed to a one-year deal with the team for up to 12.5 million dollars. Reiff is an offensive lineman.
