South Dakota’s lone congressman voted against a House bill to codify same-sex and interracial marriage. The bill passed with bipartisan support. Forty-seven Republicans joined 220 Democrats to advance the legislation to the Senate.

A wildland fire in Meade County was contained at 828 acres Wednesday. Firefighters worked through 90 degree temperatures and 35 mile per hour winds to control the blaze near Box Elder.

Patients enrolled in South Dakota’s medical marijuana program will have their first opportunity to buy cannabis from a state-licensed facility next Wednesday.
