South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and state Rep. Jamie Smith, the Democratic lawmaker challenging her in the November election for governor, agreed Wednesday to a September debate in Rapid City.

More Americans are contracting the dominant strain of COVID, even if they have been vaccinated or previously infected.

Most South Dakota farmers grow and sell commodity crops like corn and soybeans, which they sell to processors. But a Brown County farmer has decided to cut out the middleman.

Objects spotted in the sky near Sioux Falls and other areas recently are high-altitude balloons. The National Weather Service says it received several calls this week about the balloons, which are owned by Raven Aerostar.

A new survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation finds that among Americans who go into debt because of their cancer or a family members', about 1 in 4 declare bankruptcy or lose their home to eviction or foreclosure.
