Emergency workers have stopped a wildfire just west of Custer from spreading. The Wabash Springs Fire was 100% contained as of 10 a.m. today.

South Dakota Lawmakers have approved an unprecedented amount of funding for the state’s higher education system. The legislature appropriated a total of nearly 288 million dollars for special one-time projects on all 6 of the state’s university campuses.

South Dakota attorneys cannot keep up with the demand for their services. That’s prompted some state residents to represent themselves in court, especially for civil cases. But the pandemic has reduced the number of cases heard in court.

Avian influenza has been detected in a northern Indiana duck farm, state officials say, marking the disease’s spread to a third poultry species. Bird flu was detected earlier this year at turkeys at two animal feeding facilities in South Dakota.
