The state Senate is passing a bill that allows students to wear beaded caps at graduation. The legislation builds on prior successful efforts by Native American lawmakers to allow eagle feathers and plumes on graduation caps.

A bipartisan proposal to legalize recreational marijuana in South Dakota survived its first test in the Legislature. Today, a Senate committee recommended the proposal for a vote in the full chamber next week.
