At least one state lawmaker in Pierre has already tested positive for COVID-19. Democratic State Senator Reynold Nesiba tested positive for the coronavirus this morning.

Governor Kristi Noem recognized Rodney and Peggy Anderson with the Governor's Heroism Award for their commitment to foster care and adoption. The Dell Rapids couple has adopted nine children out of the foster care system, and they’ve served as foster parents to many more. 

The state Game, Fish and Parks Department wants the Legislature to fund a campsite expansion at Custer State Park. But the proposal could face opposition from private campground owners.

Clyde Bellecourt, a leader in the Native American struggle for civil rights and a founder of the American Indian Movement, has died. He was 85.
