With this conversation, we focus on one person, Angelique Renville to see how she sought to carve out her life. I discussed all this with Linda Clemmons due to her new book about how Angelique was raised, educated and adopted by missionaries Stephen R. Riggs and his wife Mary. Her fascinating situation shows how a Dakota woman took what she wished from both cultures to live her chosen life.
