Authorities say a dog alerted a sleeping homeowner about a house fire in northeast South Dakota.
It happened early Sunday morning at a home outside Milbank.
Grant County Emergency Management officials said a man was sleeping in the home a fire broke out. The homeowner’s dog woke him and he was able to get out safely.
Crews were at the scene all night to contain the blaze. The home received major fire and smoke damage.
The cause is under investigation.
