Sioux Falls opens leaf and branch disposal sites for residents

Sioux Falls residents sprucing up their lawns and gardens this spring can drop off yard waste at designated areas starting Saturday.

The city is opening two leaf and branch collection sites. One is at North Lyon Boulevard near the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds, the second is at Chambers Street near the Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

These locations will be open for residential disposal from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon till 5 p.m. on Sunday. More details are available on the city's website.

Branches get ground up and repurposed. Leaves will be turned to compost, which is available year round at the landfill. Compost will also be available at the Chambers Street location.
