South Dakota authorities are planning more than a dozen sobriety checkpoints this month to cut down on drunk driving.
The Highway Patrol is planning checkpoints in 13 counties during November, according to a press release from the Department of Public Safety.
This month's counties include Beadle, Brown, Butte, Clay, Codington, Day, Edmunds, Jackson, Lake, Lyman, Meade, Minnehaha and Pennington.
Troopers work with local law enforcement agencies to organize the checkpoints. Authorities say they are set up to encourage sober driving.
