Cave tours have resumed at Wind Cave National Park in the Black Hills.

The tours had been on hold since early August due to elevator repairs. Tours resumed Wednesday, just in time for the park’s Native American Day celebration on Monday.

“We are very happy to offer cave tours again and look forward to hosting people this Monday who want to see the cave and experience some of the art and living culture of our Native American communities,” said park Superintendent Leigh Welling.

Details about the park's Native American Day events are available on thepark's website.

Staff say they the entire elevator system will be replaced in 2024, but these latest repairs keep the elevators safe until then. A construction schedule has not yet been set, so details about the impact on tours is not yet available.
