Rep. Dusty Johnson is encouraging the Military Entrance Processing Command to allow family of National Guard personnel to attend swearing-in ceremonies again.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Defense prohibited guests from attending swearing-in ceremonies. Before the pandemic, there was no limit to guest attendance.
In January, the policy was updated to allow each member to bring two guests. However, this update didn’t apply to the U.S. National Guard.
Officials said they are working to adjust this new policy to include the National Guard personnel in the future.
