Amazon Declines Comment On Sioux Falls Rumor

Sioux Falls Development Foundation

Sioux Falls is abuzz with rumors about one of the world’s biggest companies possibly coming to town, but the company itself isn't talking.

KELO-TV reports that Amazon will build a massive fulfillment center in northwest Sioux Falls. KELO says it has copies of the building plans. But the station does not name its source.

Meanwhile, Amazon won’t confirm or deny the report.

Spokeswoman Kirsten Wenker tells SDPB in an email, “Amazon does not comment on rumors or speculation.”

The speculation centers on Foundation Park. That’s an 800-acre area near interstates 29 and 90. The Sioux Falls Development Foundation owns the park, and several companies have already located there.

Bob Mundt is president and CEO of the foundation. He declined to comment on the Amazon rumors. But he said the foundation is seeking more companies for the park.

“You know, we’re working with brokers and developers right now and we’ve got some good leads out there, nothing solid at this particular point in time,” Mundt said.

Amazon has 175 fulfillment centers around the world. Workers in the centers pack and ship products to Amazon customers.
