In The Moment ... August 7, 2017 Show 150 Hour 2

In some parts of the country beef has been and is a bad subject among environmentalists and health advocates.  Some believe that livestock, especially cattle, erode soils, pollute air and water and decimate wildlife populations. The matter isn't so clearly cut in the eyes of author Nicolette Hahn Niman.  The vegetarian turned cattle rancher wrote "Defending Beef: The Case for Sustainable Meat Production."
In "Defending Beef," Hahn Niman argues that cattle are not inherently bad for either the Earth or our own nutritional health. She recently spoke with Prairie Public's Doug Hamilton and explained how show ended up on a California ranch.

We  begin a new series on today's program based on South Dakota's parks and bike trails.  SDPB 's Director of Content Larry Rohrer is with us to discuss what he calls, "A Gem Hiding in Plain Sight."

In less than a month, people are going to flock to Huron for the 2017 South Dakota State Fair. Picture this, a guy walking around randomly interviewing fairgoers and celebrities alike. Sounds fun right? In 1992 & 1993, long-time radio personality Chuck Anderson did just that. Chuck Anderson joins us now from Huron, Chuck welcome back to In The Moment.
