Bill Lofgren grew up in Minneapolis and enlisted in the army in 1944. Lofgren received his military training in several locations, including Camp Roberts, north of Los Angeles. On a brief leave from camp, he and several army buddies traveled to Los Angeles for a night on the town. They were rewarded with a chance encounter with Frank Sinatra. We hear clips from an interview with Lofgren for a special summer Images of the Past feature.
