65 years ago today, Sun Records of Memphis began releasing records.  The company, launched by Sam Phillips, invited creativity and vision, as Phillips was willing to listen to almost anyone who came in off the street.  Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis are at the top of a long list of legendary artists who are part of Sun Records rich history.  In 2014, our guest Peter Guralnick, released his book, Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock and Roll.  The book came out in paperback last October.  Guralnick has also authored several other biographies on artists like Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke and Robert Johnson.  He's a Grammy winner and a leading historian in this period of rich musical growth.
