In The Moment ... February 22, 2017 Show 035 Hour 1

A discussion regarding the cleanup situation at the DAPL protest site in North Dakota.  What's the current current shape of the camp, how much waste has been hauled away and what kind of efforts it will take to finish the cleanup.  The cleanup is in its fourth week as contractors and people in the camp deal with tons of garbage, abandoned camp belongings and vehicles and donations buried during winter blizzards. Tom Doering, Morton County Emergency Manger, joins the show. Chas Jewett is a Cheyenne River member and was at the Oceti Sakowin campsite earlier in the week. She disputes some of the claims. Dave Glatt, acting director of the North Dakota Department of Health speaks on health and safety concerns at the protest site and along the river.

John Swedeen, president of the State Theatre Company

Tremendous advances have been made in recent years toward preserving and restoring the historic theatre in Sioux Falls, which opened in 1926 and closed in 1990, but the job is not finished. Guests will see that the auditorium area remains under construction. The State is being restored to become a multi-purpose facility for community events such as films, artistic performances, business conferences and social gatherings. No official reopening date has been set yet. John Swedeen, president of the State Theatre Company joins the show.
