Highway of Champions, Winner, Colome, and Gregory

Wheaties Boxes featuring Colome, Winner, and Gregory

A grocery store in south central South Dakota is helping raise money for local schools by selling boxes of cereal. This year, three schools on Highway 18 won state football championships. It’s what’s on the boxes of cereal that's getting people excited.

Buche Foods grocery store in Gregory, South Dakota is selling boxes of Wheaties Cereal that are specialized with three state football champions from the area. The Gregory Gorillas, the Colome Cowboys, and the Winner Warriors all have their own individual box.

Store manager Adam Houdeshell says the owner of the grocery store, RF Buche, wanted to do something special for the three teams.

"It’s a pretty rare deal, for sports. Especially with the competition and all the different teams and high schools in South Dakota," says Houdeshell. "So it’s pretty special this year, in 2016, having three championship teams in three different classes within 25 miles."

The boxes are being sold for ten dollars, but five dollars of each box sold goes back to the schools of Gregory, Colome, and Winner.

Houdeshell says the money will be distributed evenly among the three schools.
