Dakota Midday: Images Of The Past, Camp Dewey

Your browser doesn’t support HTML5 audio

For this week's Images of the Past, Bill Hoskins, director of Siouxland Heritage Museums, tells the story of Camp Dewey in Sioux Falls. The camp served as a rendezvous for around 1,000 South Dakotans called into action in response to the downing of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor in 1898. How those men ended up ill-prepared for action in the Philippines rounds out the story of a South Dakota military contribution.
