Dr. Sally Roesch Wagner Announces Plans For A New Book

Chynna Lockett

Dr. Sally Roesch Wagner is an historian and author and is also the founding director of the Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation. She announced plans for an upcoming book at a recent presentation about the Enterprising Spirit of South Dakota Women.

Dr. Sally Roesch Wagner received a round of applause as she stepped up to the podium for her presentation. Wagner shares stories of South Dakota Pioneers and Native American women from history. She explains that both cultures influenced each other.

“The friendships between Native and non-Native people in South Dakota is the legacy and the strength of women upon which we can build real reconciliation,” says Wagner.

Wagner used her presentation to announce her own enterprising spirit.

“Well it appears that a book was hatched tonight when an author I deeply respect, Linda Hasselstrom, suggested that I put the six volumes of Daughters of Dakota, condense them into one book. And I publicly announced tonight in honor of Linda that I will do that book. Watch for future news,” Wagner explained.

Wagner says she has talked with people about the possibility of putting the stories on audio and video as well. However, plans are not yet confirmed.
