College Freshman Says Cultural Values Benefit Species And Environment

An essay written by a freshman at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology was published in late October. Tristan Picotte’s article was one in a series called “Winged Warnings,” published by Environmental Health News in conjunction with National Geographic. The series describes environmental threats to birds and their role in keeping the planet healthy. Picotte tells SDPB’s Victoria Wicks that eagles symbolize the Lakota’s dedication to the earth.
