Huron Couple Donates One Million Dollars To End Hunger In South Dakota

Feeding South Dakota

The non-profit organization Feeding South Dakota received a donation of one million dollars on Tuesday.

Feeding South Dakota Executive Director Matt Gassen says the money will help eliminate hunger in South Dakota.

“Today was a monumental day in the history of Feeding South Dakota in that we celebrated the gift of a million dollar endowment provided to us by Paul and Donna Christen from Huron. This is a gift that they wanted to give in the form of an endowment so that it would be providing us support in perpetuity,” says Gassen.

Gassen says Feeding South Dakota operates food pantries and back pack programs in Pierre, Sioux Falls, and Rapid City along with providing food assistance to more than 60-thousand families across the state.
