Ziggy's Building Center Burns

Rapid City Fire Department

A structure fire destroyed part of a building supply center in Rapid City.

The fire was reported just before Midnight at Ziggy's Building center near the Central States Fairgrounds.

The Rapid City Fire Department responded with multiple units.  Crews attempted a combination of exterior and interior attack, but the roof of the structure failed. Crews continued pouring water on the fire from the outside.

By mid-morning firefighters were still working to extinguish the flames. Rapid City Fire Lieutenant Brent Long says an investigation into the cause will begin as soon as the fire is out.

“Right now they are in the process of still trying to put out a bunch of hot spots in here so once that’s done investigators can start looking through it and hopefully come up with a pint of origin,” says Long.

Long says no injuries are reported in the fire and no one is believed to have been inside the building when it burned.
