South Dakota Representative Stace Nelson Considering Running For U.S. Senate

South Dakota Republican State Representative Stace Nelson is considering running for the United States Senate. Nelson is currently a Representative in the South Dakota Legislature for District 19. Nelson says he’s been a public servant for most of his adult life - he’s a retired Marine and a retired federal agent - and he’d like to represent South Dakota in Washington.

“What Americans need right now is someone that will go to D.C. and stand apart, stand on principal, and bring our country back to the era of where people could look at some of their elected officials and be proud of who they are, be proud that they’re there working for American citizens. If folks decide to send me to D.C., as I’ve done in the South Dakota State Legislature, I’d be like that boulder on the ocean where the waves are crashing around it, I would stand on principal,” says Nelson.

Nelson currently serves on two State Legislative committees – Commerce & Energy and the Local Government committee. Nelson says if he is voted into the U.S. Senate he would work to cut foreign spending and bring conservative South Dakota values and leadership to Washington. Nelson says he plans to try to muster up the resources to travel across South Dakota so voters can get to know him and what he stands for. If Nelson chooses to run for office he faces Mike Rounds, Larry Rhoden, and Annette Bosworth in the Republican Primary in June of 2014.
