45 Years Of Art Celebrated At Red Cloud

The Red Cloud Indian Art Show on Pine Ridge is celebrating its 45th year with the opening of its annual exhibit this weekend. The show highlights the talents of Native American artists from around the country.   Mary Bordeaux is the curator of the Heritage Center at the Red Cloud School.   She says the exhibit and sale includes not only established artists like Don Montileaux  but also gives lesser known young artists a chance to show and sell their work.

“And it’s really good to see what they’re doing because they really push the older or more established artists, and the more established artists like to see what the younger people are doing.  So we have a good representation of kind of the younger generation just coming up of artists," says Bordeaux.

Bordeaux says the exhibit opens June 2nd at the Red Cloud Indian School Heritage Center on Pine Ridge.
