Black Hills Photo Shoot-Out

Black Hills State University in Spearfish is host this weekend to photography enthusiasts from across the nation.  The 3rd Annual Black Hills Photo Shoot-Out is a weekend-long series of workshops.  The workshops feature a variety of locations, topics, and instructors.

Steve Babbitt is a Photography professor at the University.  He says the weekend is all about comraderey and sharing ideas.

“There’s no doubt that we like to show off what we have here, not just our photography department but the whole University.  And you know what, its hard for me to think of too many places that are more beautiful to photograph the last weekend of September than the Black Hills.  I mean, it’s pretty darn beautiful,” says Babbitt.

Babbitt says every year the Photo-Shoot-Out features a key-note speaker.  This year’s speaker is Rick Sammon who has worked for National Geographic and has written more than thirty books on photography.  Sammon is speaking at Black Hills State on Friday. The speech is free to the public.
