South Dakota Surpasses 2,000 COVID Deaths

COVID

South Dakota has surpassed 2,000 deaths from COVID-19. 

The state Health Department reports 55 new coronavirus cases and 7 deaths. 

The latest fatalities bring the statewide death total to 2,001. 

Active cases are down for the ninth day. There are 634 current infections and 57 hospitalizations. 

Health systems have distributed vaccine doses to more than 343,000 people. South Dakotans age 12 and older are eligible for vaccinations. More than half of them have received at least one dose. Roughly 48 percent of them have completed the vaccine series.
