2022 State Volleyball Tournament Live Blog - Day Two (11/18/22)

#3 Harrisburg def. #2 Sioux Falls O’Gorman 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-23)

Harrisburg will play for the AA title as they knock off the '21 champs O'Gorman 3-1. Set 4 score 25-23. Harrisburg will face Sioux Falls Jefferson at 7 PM for the AA title. O'Gorman will take on Sioux Falls Washington for 3rd place at 5 PM.

We're off to the 4th set as Harrisburg takes a 2-1 lead with a 25-23 set 3 win.

Harrisburg ties it up with a 25-21 set two W.

O'Gorman takes a back and forth set one 25-21.

Harrisburg swept O'Gorman in their only meeting of 2022, 3-0 back on October 25th.

O'Gorman is the defending AA champion. Harrisburg took home 7th place in 2021.

#2 Miller vs #3 Elkton-Lake Benton 25-22, 25-9, 25-21

The Elks will face Sioux Falls Christian and 7 PM Saturday for the State A Championship.

Elkton-Lake Benton will play for a state title with a 3-0 sweep of Miller. Set 5 score of 25-21.

The Elks with a dominant 25-9 set two W.

ELB takes set one 25-22

This is the first meeting between the two teams in 2022.

ELB took home 5th place in 2021. Miller's last appearance in the Class A Tournament was 2019 taking home 3rd place.

#3 Chester Area def. #2 Burke 24-26, 25-19, 27-25, 25-22

Chester will play for the B title on Saturday with a 3-1 win over Burke. Set 4 final 25-22. Chester will face Warner at 7 PM for the championship. Burke will take on Wolsey-Wessington at 5 PM.

Chester takes set three in OT 27-25.

We're tied a 1-1 as Chester takes set two 25-19.

Burke fights back to take set one 26-24

Burke placed 8th in 2021. Chester took 5th place in 2021.

This is the first meeting of these two squads in 2022.

Sioux Falls Jefferson is making its first-ever appearance in a volleyball state tournament as a school.

Washington looks to get back into the AA title game after falling to O'Gorman last year 3-2.

Sioux Falls Washington has won both meetings in 2022. The Cavaliers took the Warriors to five sets on September 6th but Washington got the 3-0 sweep on October 25th.

Sioux Falls Christian will again play in the Class A Championship Game Saturday at 7 PM with a 3-0 win over Elk Point-Jefferson. EPJ will play for 3rd place at 5 PM.

The Knights with a dominant set two victory 25-7.

The defending champs take set one 25-17.

Sioux Falls Christian is the defending Class A champion. The Knights knocked off Garretson 3-0 in the 2021 championship game. (25-15, 25-15, 25-15)

What a week for Elk Point-Jefferson. The football team won the 11B Football Championship last weekend. The Huskies knocked off the one seed to open the A Tournament and EPJ coach Erin Kuper had a baby last Saturday. Nate Wek has the story HERE.

These two teams have met twice in 2022 with Sioux Falls Christian sweeping the matchups on September 29th and October 15th.

#1 Warner def. #5 Wolsey-Wessington 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-11)

The Monarchs are back in the Class B Championship game Saturday at 7 PM with a 3-0 sweep of Wolsey-Wessington. Set three score of 25-11. The Warbirds will play for 3rd place at 5 PM.

Warner takes the 10 point set two victory, 25-15.

Warner takes the first set over Wolsey/Wessington 25-20.

Warner is the defending Class B champion after defeating Colman-Egan 3-0 in 2021. Colman-Egan will be playing for 7th place on Saturday.

These two teams last met on August 29th with Warner earning the 3-0 sweep.

#6 Sioux Falls Lincoln def. #7 Huron 3-2 (25-23, 14-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-11)

Sioux Falls Lincoln holds on for a 3-2 win over Huron. The Patriots will face the Governors at 1:15 PM Saturday for the Class AA Consolation Championship. Huron will take on Rapid City Stevens for 7th place at 11:30 AM.

Both consolation semifinal matches have gone into the 5th set today. Winner of this one will face Pierre at 1:15 PM Saturday.

Huron forces a set five with a 25-19 set four victory.

Lincoln takes set three 25-22. We're on to set four with the Patriots up 2-1.

Huron wins their first set over Lincoln this season with a 25-14 set two W.

Lincoln comes back to take set one over Huron 25-23.

Lincoln won the only meeting of these two teams this year 3-0 on September 29th.

Winner will face Pierre in the consolation championship game at 1:15 PM Saturday.

#7 Platte-Geddes def. #6 Belle Fourche 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-20)

Platte-Geddes downs Belle Fourche in 3 sets. The Black Panthers will face Dakota Valley for the Class A Consolation Championship at 1:15 PM Saturday. Belle Fourche will take on Wagner for 7th place at 11:30 PM.

Castlewood moves on with a 25-18 set four win over Colman-Egan. The Warriors will face Northwestern in the consolation championship at 1:15 PM. Colman-Egan will play for 7th place against Freeman.

We head to a fourth set as Castlewood comes back to take a 27-25 set three victory.

The Hawks tie it up at 1-1 with a 25-17 set two victory.

Castlewood takes set one 25-18.

These two teams have played each other three times this year. Castlewood took the matchup on September 29th 2-1 at the Hamlin Invite. The Hawks won the next two matchups, September 29th 3-2 at Colman-Egan and 2-1 in the DVC Tournament.

Winner of this one will play Northwestern at 1:15 PM Saturday for the consolation championship.

#4 Northwestern def. #8 Freeman 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-15)
