This interview originally aired on "In the Moment" on SDPB Radio.

South Dakota's rural counties can be mental health care deserts. Some statewide programs and a new facility in Yankton are hoping to improve access.

Nikki Gronli is the rural development state director for South Dakota at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Tom Stanage, Ph.D., is the executive director of Lewis & Clark Behavioral Health.

We get an update on the construction for the Yankton facility and the funding going toward mental health resources in South Dakota's rural communities.
