The state Department of Health opens the application period for the State Loan Repayment Program Oct. 2.
Officials said the program is designed to improve access to health care services in underserved communities by recruiting and retaining care providers.
Last year, more than 200 applicants applied for the program and 14 received funding.
Some of the eligible disciplines include those in the medical, psychology, nursing, and pharmacy fields. Awardees must serve two years at an eligible health care practice site in South Dakota.
Applications and eligibility requirements are available online through Oct. 31.
