$2 million grant to fund research into the role of primary cilia

This interview originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

Halim Loukil, Ph.D., an assistant scientist at Sanford Research, was awarded a $2 million grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The grant will fund Dr. Loukil's research into cilia's role in the brain.

Cilia are the small, hair-like structures on cells. Dr. Loukil is examining a type of cilia found on neurologic cells. He's exploring what role cilia play in developmental disorders.

Dr. Loukil joins In the Moment to talk about what little we know about cilia's function and the research yet to be done.
