This interview originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

Two University of South Dakota professors went abroad and came back with a better understanding of rural South Dakota’s health needs.

Lindsey Jorgensen, Ph.D., Au.D., is a chair and professor at the University of South Dakota’s Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders. Jennifer Phelan, Au.D., is the Audiology Clinic Coordinator and an assistant professor of practice at the university.

They brought audiology services to remote villages in Central America. To In the Moment, they bring stories of the people they helped and a reaffirmed sense of duty to serve South Dakotans with hearing loss.
