Direct reporting vs. chain of command reporting in child abuse cases

NPR

This interview originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

How can we improve South Dakota's child protection laws? Franne Sippel, Ed.D., has some ideas.

Sippel co-conducted a new study into mandatory reporting processes, specifically comparing direct reporting and chain of command reporting. She said she found direct reporting to be the clear choice.

Sippel joined In the Moment to explain the issues with chain of command reporting and how to improve the state's child abuse laws.

She's a co-founder of Northern Plains Psychological Associates and co-host of Shrink Rap the Podcast.
