A medical waste processor is suing Sanford Health for improper delivery of human materials, among other claims.

In the suit, Monarch Waste Technologies accuses Sanford of delivering a human torso to their facility in a plastic container. It also accuses a Sanford subsidiary of staging photos and cutting water to undermine Monarch in negotiations.

The alleged incidents took place at a facility in North Dakota. Further, Monarch claims to be missing payments from Sanford.

Monarch says these practices damaged the company’s reputation.

In a statement, Sanford Health denied wrongdoing and said they intend to file counterclaims against Monarch for failing to fulfill contractually obligated services. Further, Sanford said they always comply with the proper procedures for transport of human tissue and facility maintenance.
