Law enforcement agencies across South Dakota are collaborating to get potentially harmful drugs off the street.

The program, called Prescription Take-back Day, happens Saturday, Oct. 29.

Anyone with unwanted or expired medications can drop them off at participating police stations, sheriff’s offices, or pharmacies across the state. A full list of take-back locations is available at avoidopioidsd.com.

Department of Social Services Secretary Laurie Gill said it’s an easy way to keep prescription drugs out of the wrong hands.

Authorities collected 1,168 pounds of medication during the spring take-back day on April 30.
