A major regional health care provider is eliminating an undisclosed number of jobs.

Sanford Health President and CEO Bill Gassen addressed the layoffs in an email to staff. He said the changes will streamline Sanford’s leadership structure and “simplify operations in a few focused areas.”

The letter did not specify what those areas are, only that they’re primarily in nonclinical departments.

Gassen said the changes will not impact patient care.

"We are doing all we can to support affected colleagues and want to keep them in the Sanford Family," Gassen said. "Many have received immediate offers for new jobs and others have been encouraged to apply for open positions across the organization"

Gassen also said Sanford is currently hiring more than 6,000 positions in mainly patient-facing roles.
