Monument Health breaks ground on Rapid City's first long-term acute care hospital

Officials broke ground today on Rapid City’s first long term acute care hospital. Monument Health is partnering with Vibra Healthcare to jointly operate The Rehabilitation and Critical Care Hospital of the Black Hills

The facility will have 36 rehabilitation beds and 18 long-term acute care beds

It will specialize in treating serious respiratory, cardiac, neurological and infectious disease. Hospital stays can often be 21 days or more. Currently, patients in need of extended treatment are transferred to Sioux Falls or a neighboring state.

The new 55,000-square-foot hospital will be located at the corner of Catron Boulevard and U.S. Highway 16.
