The South Dakota Department of Health has just now begun differentiating between people who died with COVID-19, versus death by COVID-19.
As SDPB attempts and better understand the qualifiers of a death “with” and “by”, and how the changes in the data will affect how we report, we thought it would be a good time to look at COVID-19 deaths per capita by state in the U.S. from February 28, 2020, until December 15, 2020.
Note: This is CDC data, as reported by each state daily, then converted to per capita.
