Pierre’s "Go Green and Clean' spring cleanup campaign is underway.

From now until May 15, community members will volunteer time to clean up public spaces. City officials said it’s a civic pride effort to spruce up the city for summer.

Projects include cleaning up flower beds, litter patrol, and washing the Trail of Governors statues.

"We have a few groups who got out of the gates early and already have their projects complete. If you've noticed the Kennedy School area or Dog Park looking especially nice, you have the Kennedy fifth grade class and Cub Scouts Pack 273 to thank," said City Parks and Recreation Director Bryan Tipton.

Tipton also said there’s still room for more volunteers. People who are interested in helping out can call Pierre Parks and Recreation at (605) 773-7407.
