USDA’s plant hardiness map tracks the shifting climate

U.S. Department of Agriculture

This interview originally aired on "In the Moment" on SDPB Radio.

The USDA has updated its plant hardiness map for the first time in a decade. We ask what that means for South Dakota's gardeners and growers.

Laura Edwards is the SDSU Extension state climatologist, and Rhoda Burrows is an SDSU Extension horticulture specialist.

They join "In the Moment" to discuss what the changes could mean for the state's native plants and whether gardeners can start planting greenery acclimated to warmer climates here.
