Applications for South Dakota’s Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources Community Forestry Grant close on Oct. 13.
The grant program funds projects that help solve specific community forestry problems or demonstrate the importance of urban forests, according to DANR officials.
Funds can be used for projects like new tree plantings, care and maintenance of existing trees, urban food forests and tree inventories on public land.
Communities, tribes, and non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply. Communities must provide an equivalent match of all funds awarded.
Application forms and details can be found here.
