Water levels at Faulkton Lake are set to drop over the next month due to a dam repair project.
Game, Fish and Parks said the drawdown is to allow work on the spillway at the lake, which is located about a mile west of Faulkton.
"Significant maintenance was completed at Faulkton Lake, Redfield Lake, and Jones Lake dams last fall,” said Jason Jungwirth, Aquatic Habitat Biologist. “The Faulkton Lake dam wingwall replacement was also scheduled for this timeline but was unable to be completed due to the early and heavy snowfalls, which is why it will now be completed this fall."
The lake’s water levels are expected to drop a few feet. Game, Fish and Parks said it could impact boat ramps and recreational activities.
Work begins Aug. 14. The project should take about 4-5 weeks to complete.
Dam maintenance was paid for through aquatic habitat stamp funds, officials said.
