Two new programs in the state university system aim to help tackle high-demand career needs in South Dakota.
A bachelor’s-level program for accounting is coming to South Dakota State University, and a master’s program in artificial intelligence is approved for the University of South Dakota.
State Board of Regents president Tim Rave said both programs are addressing needs of the statewide economy and workforce.
SDSU currently offers a minor in accounting, but Rave said the new courses will further expand opportunities for students interested in the financial sector.
USD’s AI program seeks to compliment artificial intelligence needs in fields like research, development, science and technology.
Both programs will be offered at their respective universities beginning this fall.
