Organizations offer new resources for SD after school programs

The state Department of Education and the Black Hills Special Service Cooperative have announced new online resources for after school programs.

Path2Impact, or P2I, is an online platform where adults involved with after school programs can access lesson plans and training modules.

P2I lesson plans were designed to mirror the content standard of South Dakota K-12 education, according to the Department of Education.

“Out-of-school-time programs have tremendous impact on our youth,” said Secretary of Education Joseph Graves. “They support the learning that occurs in schools by providing extended opportunities for learning during non-school hours. Through Path2Impact, we’ve been able to create a suite of quality resources and training for the individuals who staff these programs.”

The Department of Education and Black Hills Special Services Cooperative are hosting P2I launch events April 2 through April 5. The events will be in Box Elder, Fort Pierre, Aberdeen and Sioux Falls. Officials are encouraging the staff of in-state after school programs to attend.
