Authorities say an anonymous threat made against the South Dakota State University campus is not credible.
University officials said they received a call around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday threatening to carry out an attack on campus. The threat was vague and did include any specific details.
The school sent an alert to students notifying them of the threat shortly after it was received.
Authorities later confirmed the threat came from outside of South Dakota and was a hoax.
SDSU Police Chief Tim Heaton said there have been a large number of similar fake threats made against schools and public institution across the country in recent months.
