South Dakota Mines prepares for quantum computing courses

South Dakota School of Mines & Technology

Quantum computing is a piece of the future, and South Dakota Mines received a grant to support their own program.

The $50,000 grant was awarded from Quibitekk, a leading quantum network.

The dollars will fund the creation of new classes at Mines focused on quantum information sciences, or QIS.

These courses include primers on quantum materials, nanophotonics, and an introduction to quantum computing for engineers.

QIS includes things like the development of quantum computers and sensors and advanced secure communication networks.
