Applications open for after school and summertime programming grants

The state Department of Education is offering grants to fund out-of-school time learning programs.

The 21st Century Community Learning Center grants will offer after-school academic opportunities and summer programs to students attending high-poverty or low-performance schools.

This funding comes from the federal government, which has granted this money to individual states.

Schools can apply for as much as $300,000 in award money for a five-year period. Applications are due by the end of January.
